Minister assures to give utmost priority and support for cultivation of sugarcane in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district

Udupi: Minister for state for Agriculture and farmer’s welfare Shobha Karandlaje has assured to extend support to the sugarcane cultivation in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district.

As per news report published in Daijiworld.com, speaking on the appeal made by Baikady Suprasad Shetty, president, Brahmavar Sugar Factory, she said, “For the economic development of farmers, cultivation of sugarcane should be extended support. The central government will soon give permission to start Ethanol plant in Brahmavar sugar factory along with the warehouse, food processing unit, and support will be extended to producing farm based products.”

The factory is shut from last so many years and yet there is no concrete plan to rejuvenate it. Since the factory closed down owing to heavy losses, several efforts were made to revive it, but nothing worked.
