Muzaffarnagar: Coronavirus has impacted the sugar mills operations. In many sugar-producing states, mills are struggling to operate. Also, farmers are worried as sugarcane is still standing in the fields.

Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan has urged the sugar mills in Muzaffarnagar district to continue operations till the entire sugarcane is not harvested.

The minister convened a meeting with the management of eight sugar mills and senior police and administrative officials and issued instructions in this regard. According to the ISMA, “Wherever there is any availability of sugarcane, the sugar mills are making all efforts to ensure that the farmers do not face any problem, and sugar mills in those areas are operating.”
