Monsoon expected to hit eastern parts by Saturday

Pune, May 24 (UNI) Conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into more parts of South Bay of Bengal, North Andaman Sea and Andaman Islands, during the next 24 hours.

Heat wave conditions were observed in some parts of Vidarbha and in isolated pockets over east Madhya Pradesh and madhya Maharashtra.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha and Kerala.

Day temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya and coastal Andhra Pradesh and were below normal in remaining parts of Assam and Meghalaya.

The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 46.5 degree Celsius at Bramhapuri (Vidarbha).

Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places was very likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and south interior Karnataka.
