Mumbai, Kolkata may be submerged by 2050: Report

New Delhi: After 30 years from now, as many as 36 million people living in the coastal areas will be affected due to catastrophic natural disasters. The coastal areas of the country including Mumbai, Kolkata, Surat and other will be submerged or will receive heavy floods every year.

The report published by the American Institute of Climate Central has stated that due to global warming, the sea level rose rapidly. The process will continue and will affect India by submerging the areas around the shore. This will affect ten countries in the world. Rapid urbanization and economic growth are a great threat to the climate, which in return has created a danger to the people.
