Nagpur: Though Maharashtra is all set to register record sugar production this season, the sugar recovery rate in few regions are still below 10 per cent.
In the state, the Nagpur region has registered the lowest sugar recovery in the ongoing season. According to the sugar commissionerate, a total of 4 mills have participated in the operations, and one mill has concluded the season. The mills have produced 3.39 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 3.96 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.56 per cent till March 14, 2021.
Average sugar recovery rate in Maharashtra is reported at 10.34 per cent this season while the recovery rate during the same period in last season was 10.39 per cent. The highest sugar recovery rate is registered in the Kolhapur region at 11.73 per cent.
