National Sugar Institute finalises schedule for 2023-24

Kanpur: The National Sugar Institute has finalized the plan for the courses to be conducted in the 2023-24 academic year, reports The Times of India.

The institute will conduct online examinations for 12 courses related to the sugar sector including sugar technology, sugar engineering, alcohol technology, sugarcane productivity, quality control and environmental science and other disciplines. The exam will be conducted at 15 centres in the country including Kanpur, New Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Dehradun, Indore, Meerut, Patna, Gorakhpur and Chandigarh.

D Swain, professor of sugar engineering and placement officer said, “Our students were able to get placement in various reputed countries and we were short of students to be offered for placement in certain disciplines.”
The institute will admit students from foreign countries based on merit drawn on their academic qualifications. They need not appear for the test, said NSI education in-charge Ashok Garg.

Several sugar-producing countries had discussed the issue regarding the nomination of their students for these courses. During his visit to India, Minister for sugar industries, Fiji, Charan Jeath Singh discussed the issue with NSI director Prof Narendra Mohan regarding the admission of students from his country to the centre.
