Nepal government forms committee to address cane payment issue

Kathmandu: According to a report by Myrepublica, the government has formed a committee, headed by a government secretary, to tackle the payment issue faced by cane farmers. Farmers from Kapilvastu and Kanchanpur have been staging protests in Kathmandu for the past two weeks, demanding the settlement of their pending cane dues.

During a recent meeting, the Council of Ministers formed a committee under the guidance of Govinda Prasad Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture. The committee will consist of joint secretaries from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
