Nepal: Sugarcane farmers to agitate for pending cane dues

Kathmandu, Nepal: Sugarcane farmers from Sarlahi district have decided to launch protest in the capital as the sugar mills have failed to clear their pending cane dues.

Two weeks ago, the delegation of sugarcane farmers met the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatt and demanded the clearance of pending dues by Chhath Puja. They decided to launch an agitation from December 12 since their demand was not met.

Sugarcane farmers claim that most of them depend on the sugarcane for livelihood and facing financial troubles as they have not received their payments.
