Nigeria aims to create more than one lakh jobs in sugar industry

The Federal Government will be creating 1,14,00 jobs to develop the technical capacity for the sugar industry. The National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) will be working on it.
Dr Latif Busar, the executive secretary of the NSDC, said that they have set up the Nigerian sugar Institute to focus on research and training for the sector. The technical manpower capacity will be developed through the institute.

An implementation committee has been set up chaired by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo that has recommended the setting up of an institute.

On the issue of smuggling of sugar, he said, “With the border closure, it is helping us, but a lot of people are severely affected because other countries who depend on our products can’t get it because of the border closure. The Free trade agreement will address the issue.”
