No sugar shortage in the country: Sri Lanka government

Colombo: Sri Lankan government has claimed that there is no shortage of sugar and other food commodities.

State Minister of Finance and capital Market Development, Ajith Nivard Cabraal said, “There is no shortage of food items in the country. We are taking action against the illegal hoarders of sugar as per the law.”

Last week several media organisations reported that the country is facing a food shortage due to dwindling foreign exchange.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said last week actions were taken against hoarders of sugar as a part of our routine activities.
