NSI led committee discusses on guidelines related production of ethanol for upcoming ESY 2021-22

Department of Food & Public Distribution held a meeting on 18.10.2021 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Narendra Mohan, Director, National Sugar Institute, Kanpur to review guidelines related to diversion/sale of B-Hy, C-Hy molasses, sugarcane Juice, sugar & sugar syrup utilized by sugar mills for production of ethanol. It will facilitate distilleries in the smooth supply of ethanol to OMCs for blending with petrol in ensuing Ethanol Supply Year 2021-22 to achieve the 10% blending. The expert committee is headed by Director, NSI and comprises representatives of Sugar Commissionerate offices and Excise Commissioner of various states, MoPN&G, representatives from ISMA and NFCSF.

In conversation with ChiniMandi News, Mr. Mohan shared, “The committee is reviewing the guidelines issued earlier by DFPD on 8th December 2021. The first meeting of the constituted committee was held on 18.10.2021 to discuss any revision required to enhance diversion of higher quantities of sugar for ethanol production yet safeguarding the interest of all stakeholders i.e. millers, farmers and OMC’s. The preliminary discussions were on the issue of estimation of probable sugar recovery as a result of diversion of sugar, norms for determination of parameters for B heavy molasses and other related matters.”
