Olam Agro India to organise training programme for sugarcane farmers

Olam Agro India Private Limited in association with Solidaridad is all set to organise “Farmers meet”, a training programme for sugarcane farmers, in sugar mill premises, Rajgoli, Maharashtra on May 28, 2019.

The “Farmers meet” aims to educate cane growers under sugarcane development programme about vital issues, which they need to adhere in order to produce good sugarcane.

The programme will mainly feature talks by experts on an overview of farm productivity, sustainable agriculture practices, healthy and profitable farming, and opportunities as well as threats involved in farming.

The stalwarts of the industry are likely to join this programme.

Arun Deshmukh from Netafim irrigation will deliver a talk on ‘Drip irrigation management’. BS Mane, a former scientist from VSI, will speak on ‘Sugarcane Pest and Disease Control’, whereas another former scientist from VSI, Abasaheb Salunkhe, will guide on ‘Food and liquid management’.

The event will be inaugurated by Mr. Sanjay Sacheti, Country head-Olam, and Mr. Bharat Kundal, Business Head-sugar-India.

Mr. Vinod Ranavare (Tehsildar, Chandgad)
Mr. Gyandev Vakure (District Agriculture Officer, Kolhapur)
Dr. RP Singh (Sugarcane Consultant, IFC)
Mr. Shivprasad Yadav (Police Inspector, Chandgad)
Mr. Mohammad Dilshah (Project Manager, Solidaridad)
Mr. Kiran Patil (Taluka Agricultural Officer, Chandgad)

Sudhir Patil, Chief agriculture officer, informed that more than 800 sugarcane farmers, under sugar mill’s jurisdiction, are expected to join this programme and also urged cane growers to participate in huge number.
