Pakistan: 500 bags of sugar seized from godown

Faisalabad: The Tehsil administration of Jarranwala conducted a raid at a godown on Tuesday and seized 500 bags of sugar.

A team, headed by AC Jarranwala Zainul Abidin, raided the godown of one Muhammad Siddique in Chak No 107-GB and recovered 500 bags of sugar stored there illegally.

The country is facing a sugar shortage. Pakistan’s trading firm TCP has issued a global tender to import 50,000 tonnes of white sugar. It was expected last week that Pakistan would import sugar from India after a green signal from Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee but the federal cabinet of Pakistan opposed the decision.
