Pakistan allows sugar export to Afghanistan in Pakistani currency

Islamabad: Taking into account the food crisis in Afghanistan, the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet approved the export of sugar and other commodities to Afghanistan against Pakistan currency, reports local media.

The decision was taken in the ECC meeting presided over by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin on Friday. The other members that attended the meeting were Fakhar Imam, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, Federal Minister for Water Resources and senior officers including Federal Secretaries.

The proposal in this regard to help war-torn Afghanistan was sent by the Ministry of Commerce. Along with sugar, the other items that are included in the list are fish, rice and meat.
