Pakistan: FIA booked eight major sugar groups

Lahore: Continuing their investigation regarding the hike in sugar prices, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has booked eight more sugar groups and 40 Satta-agents for allegedly involved in a speculative price hike.

The FIA investigation over the year has revealed that the sugar mafia has earned Rs 110 billion through speculative pricing. The FIA has stated that it is awaiting the forensic audit of three dozen mobile phones, laptops and other devices and will initiate arrests after gathering the evidence against them.

Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Director, FIA Punjab (Zone-I) said, “We have initiated action against the sugar groups and satta-agents and will not spare anyone. We are now gathering evidence that led to this massive financial crime.”
