Islamabad: The Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) has initiated the investigation related to sugar export to Afghanistan. As a step towards investigation, FIA has sought the data of sugar exported to Afghanistan from The secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As per the letter, the department has requested to get the data of sugar export from Pakistan to Afghanistan for the financial year 2014-15 to 2019-20.
The information has been asked to provide through e-mail by Monday and also in hard form by special messenger. The department has also requested that genuineness of the importers’ list may also be verified from relevant Afghan authorities.
According to the media report, the inquiry commission has found that the sugar was exported to Afghanistan but when the sugar export data was checked, there was a difference of billions of rupees.
