Pakistan government warns against sugar hoarding

The Pakistan government recently introduced a tax of Rs 3.30 per kg of sugar, and according to the reports it is being sold at exorbitant rates in the market.

State Minister for Revenue Hammad Azhar while briefing the media said, “It has come to our notice that the price on which the sugar is being sold in the market is high, and the crackdown will be launched against those, who will be found involved in hoarding the sugar”.

Earlier, during the month of Ramazan, Pakistan government had launched a crackdown on hoarders of sugar and seized thousands of sugar bags.

PTI leader Asad Umar, during his speech in the National Assembly, asked his party’s government to reconsider the increased tax on sugar.
