Pakistan: Notices to 40 sugar mills to improve hygiene

Lahore: As many as 40 sugar mills in Pakistan have received notices to improve hygiene conditions in their mills before commencing cane crushing season. The orders have been issued by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) based on the province-wide inspection.

Irfan Memon, PFA Director-General said, “Warning was issued after inspecting the sugar mills. Food safety teams of the authority visited 41 sugar mills in Punjab and found one of them closed. Authority was continuing an operation against adulterators to make the province adulteration-free.”
