Pakistan: Rs 167.8 million approved to bring cane from fields to sugar mills

Sargodha: Several measures are being implemented by the Sugar Cess Committee in Pakistan to transport sugarcane from fields to the mills.
The committee approved Rs 167.8 million for the work.

The committee convened a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh and was attended by various dignitaries including farmers and other stakeholders.

Addressing the meeting, Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh said that the funds have been utilised for the betterment of farmers. The funds will be used to repair and construction of roads to carry sugarcane from fields to the mills.

According to the reports, under Sugar Cess Funds, Rs. 106.6 million has been spent so far on three schemes of four sugar mills in the district with an estimated cost of Rs. 152.7 million.
