Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh to face strict action

Meerut: Sugar season 2019-2020 is round the corner, but mills have yet not cleared the cane dues in Uttar Pradesh, therefore now the administration is in action mode against the sugar mills.

Meerut District Magistrate Anil Dhingra has warned the sugar mills to pay pending arrears before Diwali or else to face action. He was speaking at a program on the eve of Kisan Diwas. Addressing the gathering, Dhingra ordered Mawana sugar mill to Rs 30 crore and Kinauni mill to pay Rs 40 crore to cane growers. He assured farmers that action would be taken against the mills if they fail to pay.

Also, sugar mills flouted the deadline of October 15 set by Allahabad High Court, which had directed to clear the cane dues with 15 per cent interest on it within a month.
