As the Philippines is struggling with sugar shortage issue, the government is planning to import 150,000 metric tonnes of sweetener. Now, Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc said that the bottling industry would need 450,000 metric tonnes of premium refined sugar to continue the business.
According to the local media reports, the company has issued a statement thanking President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for taking immediate steps to address the sugar scarcity issue in the country.
“The company needs premium refined sugar to maintain high-quality products and this type of sugar is different from the sugar used in the households,” Coca-Cola said.
“We need at least 450,000 metric tons of premium refined bottler grade sugar for manufacturing beverages throughout the year,” the company further added.
