Philippines releases order to import 300,000 mt of sugar

The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) has released Sugar Order No. 4 for 300,000 mt of raw and refined sugar imports, as per its website.

As per the projections of SRA, the raw and refined sugar stocks in the country will stand at negative 35,231 mt and 20,748.65 mt, respectively. This has spiked the prices of sweetener in the market and the importation of sugar is expected to resolve the issue.

As per the latest Sugar Order, out of the 300,000 mt import quota, half will be allocated to industrial users and the remaining half will be split between producers and traders.
