Pilibhit: Sugar mills facing shortage in sugarcane supply

Puranpur, Pilibhit: The Puranpur sugar mill was forced to shut down on Friday morning due to a shortage of sugarcane. The mill resumed operations late at night after collecting enough sugarcane from the area, reported Amar Ujala.

The mill’s crushing season is nearing its end, and two notices have already been issued regarding its closure. The mill has been unable to operate at full capacity due to the shortage of sugarcane.

Ajay Kumar Yadav, the chief cane officer of the Puranpur sugar mill, said that the mill was shut down due to a lack of sugarcane. He appealed to the farmers to bring their sugarcane to the mill.

In Bisalpur, the first notice for the closure of the sugar mill has been issued. Avadhesh Kumar, the chief cane officer of the mill, said that most of the sugarcane in the mill area has been crushed. There is very little sugarcane left in the area, so there is no justification for running the mill for much longer.

The mill administration has issued a notice stating that the crushing season will be closed on the night of March 19.

The Bisalpur sugar mill has been receiving very little sugarcane for the past few days. Due to this, the mill has been running intermittently. On March 13, the mill did not receive any sugarcane at all. As a result, there was no crushing on Thursday.

The mill administration had issued an indent for 2.50 lakh quintals of sugarcane. However, only 10,000 quintals of sugarcane were received on Friday. Avadhesh Kumar, the chief cane officer of the mill, said that most of the sugarcane in the mill area has been exhausted.
