Punjab: Farmers to protest for pending cane dues

Chandigarh: Farmers under the banner of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha have announced to protest against the state government on August 3 over several issues including the non-payment of sugarcane dues and compensation for cotton crop damaged by whitefly, reports PTI

Jagjit Singh Dallewal, president of Bharti Kisan Union (Sidhupur) said that farmers have decided to block national highways at Majha, Malwa and Doaba on that day.

Despite having two meetings with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, one on April 17 and the other on May 18, farmers have not received their 100 per cent cane dues, he said.
