Punjab government releases Rs 27 crore sugarcane dues

Ludhiana: In a big relief to sugarcane farmers, Punjab government cleared sugarcane arrears amounting to Rs 27 crore for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19. Pending arrears of Rs 65 lakh of 23 sugarcane farmers of Dakha area were also cleared yesterday.

Regarding this, a special programme was organized on the premises of the Budhewal Cooperative Sugar Mills. Authorities disbursed the pending dues to the sugarcane farmers of Dakha area. District Congress Committee (Rural) President Karanjit Singh Galib was the chief guest during the event.

Addressing the gathering, Galib said, “The government under the leadership of Capt. Amarinder Singh is doing its best for the betterment of farmers and has launched several schemes which are welcomed by farmers.”

Suresh Kumar Kureel, GM of The Budhewal Cooperative Sugar Mills Ltd said the dues for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 had been cleared by the state government.
