Punjab: Rain brings relief to wheat producers

Jalandhar: Wheat producers in the region are relieved as the rainfall in the Doaba region helped in dipping the mercury that would be good for the crop at this stage, reports Tribune India.

The crop requires an ideal temperature of 15-16 degree Celsius according to agriculture experts.

The rain brought down the temperature which had begun to increase as the foggy days were over.

Muktsar in Punjab registered a minimum temperature and severe cold conditions prevailed in various parts of the region.

Ferozepur recorded a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius and Faridkot recorded 3 degrees Celsius, as per the report released by the Meteorological Department.

Naresh Gulati, Jalandhar-based Agriculture Officer said, “Farmers should take care of the yellow rust disease which is an air-borne disease coming from hilly areas.”
