Punjab’s Deputy CM inaugurates Guru Nanak Dev Sugarcane Research and Development Institute

Kalanaur (Gurdaspur): Guru Nanak Dev Sugarcane Research and Development Institute, Kalanaur would be a major milestone for the sugarcane farmers living in the border areas, said Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, deputy chief minister of Punjab.

He was speaking after inaugurating the institute located in Kalanaur.

The government has spent Rs 57 crore for setting up the institute spread over 100 acres. The foundation stone of the institute was laid on November 30, 2020, and would be completed in three phases, he said.

Minister further added, “Sugarcane farmers should adopt a drip irrigation system that helps in protecting crops from diseases and saves water.”
