Railways transports sugar bags from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu

Madurai: As India is under lockdown till 14th April 2020, the government is taking measures to make sure that the essential commodities and services should get affected by it.

To ensure the availability of the essential commodity sugar, the railways transported 69 wagons of sugar bags from Karnataka to Virudhunagar and Tuticorin districts of Tamil Nadu.

Railways passengers services have been suspended till April 14, whereas it is continuing freight services across the country to ensure the availability of essential commodities.

The 27 wagons comprised nearly 31,125 bags of sugar weighing 1,713 tonnes were unloaded at Virudhnagar goods shed on Monday. Around 53,130 bags of sugar weighing 2,667 tonnes transported in 42 wagons were unloaded at Milavittan goods shed in Tuticorin district on Tuesday.
