Raizen to build second cellulosic ethanol plant in Brazil

Sao Paulo, Brazil: An energy company in Brazil, Raizen SA, will set up its second cellulosic ethanol plant having a capacity of 82 million litres per year, according to a securities filing on Friday. The capacity of the new plant is almost double the first plant.

According to the media report, the company has however not provided details on the amount to be invested in building the plant. This will cater to the rising global demand for cellulosic Biofuels.

The 91% output of the new plant has already been sold under long-term contract with a global energy player, said Raizen.

The filling said that with the new plant, the total installed capacity of Raizen will increase to 120 million liters per year of cellulosic ethanol. The new plant will start operations by 2023.
