Rajasthan: Farmers demand to reopen sugar mill

Kota: Sugarcane farmers from across 100 villages around Keshoraipatan town of Bundi district continue their agitation at Keshoraipatan town for the consecutive second week for their demand of revival of closed sugar mills in the region. They are demanding the revival of a sugar mill at Keshoraipatan which has been closed since 2002-03.

They are disappointed as the chief minister Ashok Gehlot has not spoken a word regarding the revival of the mill despite they are agitating for the last two weeks.

The farmers have stated that around 170 bigha land required to restart the operation of the mill is available with required infrastructure like administrative building, resident colony and godowns and the machinery can be used to revive the mill. It only requires maintenance and repairing.

The farmers claimed that cash of Rs 15–20 crore also deposited in the bank account held by the sugar mill and the project report to restart the mill stated that the deposited amount is sufficient to afford the maintenance and repairing.
