Rajasthan: Sugar mill start sanitizer production; will be available at affordable rates

Jaipur: With the rise in Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases, there is a huge demand for hand sanitizers. Mills, distilleries and sanitizers manufacturing companies are working hard to produce the same.

Covid-19 cases are also on rising in Rajasthan. State government-owned Ganganagar Sugar Mills (GSM) Limited has started production of hand sanitizers to prevent the spread of coronavirus. According to the media report, people can buy ‘GSM hand sanitiser’ for Rs 50 per bottle of 180 ml.

Kesar Lal Meena, general manager said, that the mill is working to provide hand sanitizers to people across the state at affordable rates as it is in shortage due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As per the guidelines of the WHO and the instructions of the state government, the firm has started high-quality hand sanitizer production at its units in Jhotwara (Jaipur), Mandore (Jodhpur), Ranpur (Kota), Hanumangarh and Udaipur centres of the sugar mills, he said.

“Total 13.80 lakh sanitizers have been distributed since March 25. We have started commercial production which will be sold in the market,” he said.

Apart from Rajasthan, leading sugarcane production states Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra is also taking lead in sanitizers production.
