Recovery certificate issued against sugar mills for being negligent in cane price payment

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: In compliance of the instructions of Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Minister of Sugar industry& Cane Development Shri Suresh Rana has given directions to take strict action against the mills those are negligent in cane price payment. In this order, Commissioner, Cane and Sugar, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy told that Cane price payment of the farmers is the top priority of the Government. Keeping this in mind, daily review of Cane price payment is being done at the Government level and by nodal officers at headquarters level, by deputy Cane Commissioner and District Cane officer at regional and district level. So far, about 80 percent of the Cane price payment for the crushing season 2019-20 has been made to the farmers and for the remaining payment, the exercise has been intensified by pressurizing the Sugar Mills.

While providing detailed information in this regard, Commissioner, Cane and Sugar, Shri Bhoosreddy said that due to the speedy payment process, the payment of nearly 80 sugar mills has reached more than 85 percent, and some of the sugar mills have also been made 100% payment. These Sugar Mills will get an amount of about Rs.3,000 crore of three schemes of Government of India like buffer subsidy, production subsidy, transport subsidy and MAEQ which will be directly transferred to the account of Cane farmers. Similarly, about Rs.1,000 crore will be sent directly to the accounts of cane farmers through Escrow account after receiving against the Co-gen dues from Energy Department. Due to which the payment of these sugar mills will become 100 percent.

He also told that during the tenure of present Government a record Cane Price Payment of Rs.1,07,059 crore has been made to the cane farmers till now. The Government has ensured payment of Rs.35,423 crore in 2017-2018, Rs.33,048 crore in 2018-19 and Rs.27,928 crore in the crushing season 2019-2020 as well as Rs. 10,659 crore cane price has been paid of previous crushing seasons.

Shri Bhoosreddy said that the departmental officers are doing continuous exercise by pressurizing Sugar Mills to get payment at the earliest. For being negligent in Cane Price Payment recovery certificate have been issued against sugar mills Sujanpur-Badaun of Yadu Group, Chilwariya-Bahraich of Simbhavali Group, ModiNagar-Ghazibad of Modi Group and Rudhauli-Basti of Bajaj Group under Sections 17 (4) and 18 (3) of Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Supply and Purchase Regulation) Act, 1953.

It is also notable that the Cane price payment is the top priority of the Government and the Government is committed and determined to ensure timely payment to Cane farmers of the State.
