Russia: Rusagro produces 17 per cent more sugar this year

Moscow: Rusagro, the Russian farming conglomerate, increased its sugar production by 17 per cent in the season 2019-20 by producing 8,82,600 tonnes of sugar in 156 days from August and February, informed the company.

According to Rusagro, Russia produced 7.1 million tonnes of sugar from August to December by processing 46.6 million tonnes of sugar beet which is 19 per cent more than the same period in 2018.

Earlier, Russia had expected the output to reach 7 million tonnes in 2019.
The country has reduced imports from the last 10 years by doubling the production and is now exporting sugar to nearby countries.
