S K Somaiya College kickstarts national seminar and discussion meeting on Simulations in Polymers, Materials, and Biomolecules

Mumbai, June 23, 2023: S K Somaiya College’s esteemed Department of Polymer Science is proud to announce the commencement of a significant academic event, a 3-day National Seminar & Discussion Meeting focused on the topic of Simulations in Polymers, Materials, and Biomolecules. The event will take place from June 22nd to June 24th, 2023.

The highly anticipated National Seminar & Discussion Meeting is currently underway, shining a spotlight on the remarkable advancements and diverse applications of “Computational Simulations” across various scientific domains. The seminar specifically emphasises the fields of polymer science, life sciences, and material sciences, showcasing the transformative potential of computational simulation techniques.

The primary objective of this prestigious meeting is to provide a dynamic platform for esteemed researchers and industry experts to present their cutting-edge research findings and engage in insightful discussions regarding the latest developments in computational simulation techniques. By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, the event aims to accelerate scientific progress in these critical areas.
The symposium will feature several thematic sessions over the next 2 days, such as:
● Simulations of Large Molecules and Polymers
● Materials for Energy Transport
● Density Functional Theory for Main Group Materials
● Membrane-Protein Interactions
● AI/ML Applications in Chemistry and Drug Designing
● Computational Biology and Diagnostics

The seminar was graced by esteemed patrons on Day 1 who provided their valuable support and guidance. These distinguished individuals were Prof V N Rajashekharan Pillai, the Vice Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University who offered his invaluable insights and expertise to enrich the seminar, CA Monica Lodha, the Director of SKSC at Somaiya Vidyavihar University in Mumbai, played a vital role in ensuring the smooth organisation and execution of the event. Dr Mayur Yergeri, the Director of SIRAC at Somaiya Vidyavihar University in Mumbai, provided valuable guidance and support, contributing to the seminar’s success. Their presence and contributions elevated the seminar and made it a truly remarkable and memorable event.

The event will feature distinguished speakers who will share their expertise and insights with the attendees. Among them are Prof Shridhar R Gadre, an Honorary Distinguished Professor and INSA Senior Scientist from Savitribai Phule Pune University. Prof S Balasubramanian, a Professor at the Jawaharlal Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in Bengaluru, will also grace the event with his presence. Joining them are Prof Sourav Pal, a Professor from Ashoka University in New Delhi, and Prof Swapan Pati, a Professor from the Jawaharlal Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in Bengaluru. These esteemed speakers will contribute to the engaging discussions and enrich the seminar with their profound knowledge and research accomplishments.

The seminar will also host a poster competition, with the Best Poster Awards sponsored by the American Chemical Society. Journal certificate awards will be presented to the best eight posters in categories such as Macromolecules, Biomacromolecules, ACS Polymers Au, ACS Omega, ACS Applied Polymer Materials, The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, Langmuir, and ACS Macro Letters.
