Saharanpur: Farmers launch protest demanding announcement of cane price

Saharanpur: Farmers have initiated an indefinite sit-in protest outside the commissioner’s office in response to the non-declaration of sugarcane prices, reported Live Hindustan.

Members, including the organisation’s president, staged demonstration . Despite efforts by police and administrative officials to communicate with the farmers, they remained steadfast in their demands. The protest continued into the late night.

For several days, farmers affiliated with Kisan Majdoor Sanghtan, have been staging a sit-in protest. On Wednesday afternoon, under the leadership of the national president, Puran Singh, and district president Ajab Singh, they reached the commissioner’s office and commenced the sit-in. According to the district president, Ajab Singh, farmers have been demanding the announcement of sugarcane prices for quite some time, with more than two months having passed since the last session. Despite this, the government has yet to declare the price of sugarcane.

ADM Administrative Dr. Archana Dwivedi and City SP Abhimanyu Manglik held discussions with the farmers, but the farmers remained firm in their stance. Youth Wing President Mohit Rana, Vice President Babli Sharma, Ram Avtar, Vijay Pal Singh, President Kaka Rana, State Secretary Kushal Pal, Sherpal Pradhan, Biral, Ravindra Sharma, Sanju Rana, among others, were also present.
