Samajwadi Party agitates for pending cane dues

Kushinagar: Sugarcane farmers along with Samajwadi Party members staged a protest at the gates of the Kaptanganj sugar mill for pending cane arrears.

The farmers under the leadership of former minister of state Radheshyam Sinh, MLC Ramawadh Yadav, former MLA Purnamasi Dehati reached the gates of the mill raising slogans against the government and launched a sit-in agitation.

They stated that the sugar mill owes around Rs 100 crore as cane dues and has not shown any signs of clearing these dues. The agitators demanded that the government should force the mill to clear the pending cane dues immediately.

They also demanded the revival of the closed sugar mills from Laxmiganj, Ramkola Khetan and Chhitauni belonging to the Uttar Pradesh State Sugar Corporation.

They submitted a memorandum of their demands to the SDM Deshdipak Sinh addressing the Governor to resolve their issues immediately.
