Sensex advances by 116 points

Mumbai, Jun 11 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Tuesday gained further by 116 points to open at 39,900.45 on brisk buying in Materials, Telecom, Utilities, Auto and Capital Goods.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) also moved up by 37 points to trade at 11,959.85.

The sensex registered intra-day high and low at 39,933.64 and 39,760.02 respectively.

The NSE registered intra-day high and low at 11,959.95 and 11,904.35 respectively.

In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index jumped 13 points, or 0.09 per cent, to 14,936, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index slipped 12 points, or 0.08 per cent, to 14,573.

The gainers were Tata Motors DVR by 2.53 pc to Rs 83.10, ONGC by 2.25 pc to Rs 168.45, VEDL by 1.99 pc to Rs 168.75 and HCL Technology by 1.94 pc to Rs 1112.95.

The losers were Sun Pharma by 3.71 pc to Rs 386.95, M & M by 1.03 pc to Rs 640-.50, Hind Unilever by 0.82 pc to Rs 1834.10 and Coal India by 0.35 pc to Rs 259.10.
