Sensex ends lower for sixth straight day

Mumbai: After a highly volatile session as July derivative contracts expired, Sensex and Nifty slipped for the sixth consecutive session on July 25.

The BSE Sensex settled 16.67 points lower at 37,830.98. Similarly, Nifty ended 19.15 points down at 11,252.15.

Vedanta, Sun Pharma, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, PowerGrid, TCS, Tech Mahindra and Infosys were among the top gainers today rising up to 3.82 per cent.

Top losers in the Sensex pack included Tata Motors, Bajaj Finance, RIL, Yes Bank, NTPC and Tata Steel falling up to 4.56 per cent.

On the currency front, the Indian rupee depreciated 69.02 against the US dollar.

The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.79 per cent higher at $63.68 per barrel.
