Seven ethanol units will be set up in Assam, says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Responding to the state government’s policy, seven ethanol units will come up in the state.

According to the news report published in The Economic Times, Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Seven units will come up. We will have an MoU signing ceremony soon. These are the biggest investments we got immediately after our government came to power”.

The ethanol production will help in addressing the issue of hike in petrol prices. Few months ago, Assam had approved the ethanol production policy to increase biofuel production.

The central government with an aim to lower the expenditure on foreign exchange has set a target of blending 20 per cent ethanol with petrol by 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
