Southwest monsoon advances towards Arabian Sea, Maldives-Comorin area & Gulf of Mannar

Pune, June 5 (UNI) In view of strengthening and deepening of cross equatorial flow along with favorable conditions across south Arabian Sea and Maldives -Comorin area, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of south Arabian sea, most parts of Maldives-Comorin area as well as other pockets of southwest Bay of Bengal.

Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Gujarat Region, Konkan and Goa,and coastal and south interior Karnataka.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Saurashtra and Kutch, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and in remaining parts of Rajasthan,and Vidarbha.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in remaining parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha. Day temperatures were below normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and in remaining parts of Arunachal Pradesh.

Day temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, north interior Karnataka and were markedly below normal in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Day temperatures were normal over rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 48 degrees celsius in Churu of west Rajasthan.

Heat waves to severe heat waves swept across isolated pockets of east and west Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Vidarbha.

Heavy rainfall very likely to lash at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh,Yanam,Tamil Nadu, Puducherry,and Karaikal.

Heat waves to severe heat waves very likely to sweep across isolated pockets of east and west Rajasthan, south Haryana, Madhya Pradesh,Vidarbha,and south Uttar Pradesh.

Thunderstorm along with gusty winds very likely at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

Duststorm or thunderstorm along with gusty winds with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph very likely at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Squally weather with winds speed reaching up to 35-45 kmph likely to prevail over southeast and southwest Arabian Sea off Somalia coast, Maldives-Comorin area and Gulf of Mannar hence fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas during next 24 hours.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Konkan and Goa, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseenma,and interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather prevailed in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State, coastal Andhra Pradesh,and coastal Karnataka.
