Sri Lanka imposes restriction on sugar import

Colombo: Coronavirus has impacted the countries and economy worldwide. Sir Lanka too has been impacted by same. The country is taking all possible measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 and also to keep the economy stable.

The Sri Lankan government after facing foreign exchange crisis has imposed import restriction on 156 items including sugar, rice, liquor, flour and apparel products.

According to the central bank, last week the Sri Lankan currency rupee dropped to a record low of Rs 200.46 against US dollar.

In a gazette issued by the finance ministry, the import restriction on 156 items have been imposed as per rule which will be in effect from April 16 to July 15.

Sri Lanka depends on other countries to fulfil the domestic need.
