State government failed to restart Sanjivani sugar mill: MGP MLA

Panji, Goa: Pramod Sawant-led government is a complete failure, said the MGP leader and former deputy chief minister Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar. He alleged that the government has completed one year but has failed to solve issues of Goa and Goans

“The state government had given assurance on the floor of the House to restart the Sanjivani sugar mill and protect the interests of the sugarcane farmers in the state but has failed on this ground,” he said.

Sudin alleged that the government wants to sell Sanjivani sugar factory’s land to a private party. As a finance minister, Sawant has failed to mobilise revenue for the state.

The factory is facing financial trouble due to a lack of adequate supply of cane. The farmers and employees from the mill are against shutting it. The mill has registered a loss due to unavailability of sugarcane and various reason.
