State government taking steps to run sugar mill

Phagwara: The state government has convened a meeting on September 13 to discuss the fate of the Golden Sandhar Mills, Phagwara as the owners of the mill have expressed inability to run it due to financial losses, reports The Tribune.

Several high-level officials will be attending the meeting at Punjab Bhavan, Chandigarh to discuss the future course of action of the government.

Rajesh Kumar Raheja, state sugarcane commissioner, Punjab has sent a message to the concerned officials to attend the meeting.

According to the news report published in TribuneIndia.com, Satwant Singh, Phagwara SDM has confirmed the development and stated that the meeting will discuss several issues including the operation of Sugar Mills, Phagwara by Sugarfed and timely payment to cane growers among others.
