Sufficient labour force for cane harvesting in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: The return of migrant labourers to their native places in Uttar Pradesh due to lockdown has resulted in sufficient labour force for Sugarcane harvesting. This is probably for the first time the state is facing no labour crunch during this season.

According to the Times of India, Additional chief secretary home, Awanish Awasthi, said, the additional labour force has helped in harvesting sugarcane grown in the state.

“Sugarcane crushing has been completed in 28 sugar mills and the crushing activities are going in 92sugar mills. So far the mills have cleared dues worth Rs 16418 crore,” he said.
