Sugar, ethanol output to increase in Brazil in the new season

Sao Paulo: Sugar output and ethanol production in the center-south (CS) region of Brazil is likely to increase in the forthcoming season that began in April, predicts consultancy Job Economia.

According to the consultancy, the sugarcane production would increase by 6.7% to 558 million tonnes in 2022/23 compared to the preceding season and the sugar output would increase to 33.5 million tonnes against 32.1 million tonnes last year.

Ethanol output is likely to increase to 30.2 billion liters as against 27.5 billion liters last year.

The increase in sugarcane output is attributed to the recovery of the fields from the drought last year which was the worst in the last 90 years in the country.
