Sugar mill sets up molasses-based ethanol production in Yamunanagar

Yamunanagar: Saraswati Sugar Mill (SSM) has invested Rs 200 crore to set up molasses-based ethanol production plant, reports The Tribune.

Aditya Puri, managing director, SSM inaugurated the plant through video link on Wednesday. This will help more than 20,500 sugarcane farmers associated with the mill.

As per news report Tribuneindia.com, S K Sachadeva, chief operating officer of the mill, said, “The plant has capacity of production of 100 KLPD and the plant would be run using molasses produced at the SSM. Ethanol produced would be supplied to the oil marketing companies.”

“The molasses produced from the mill will be used for ethanol production. Funds earned from selling ethanol will be helpful in clearing pending cane dues of the farmers,” he said.
