Sugar mill workers agitate over reduction in bonus

Meerut: The workers from Triveni sugar mill staged a demonstration against the lower bonus paid by the mill. The workers observed sit-in agitation in front of mill on Monday and have threatened to shut down mill if they do not pay full bonus. According to workers they have received 8.33 per cent bonus as against 20 per cent. They presented a memorandum of their demands to the mill administration and the government.

Dinanath Mishra, vice president of the mill, said, “The workers get 20 per cent bonus when the mill is in profit. As per the provision, we have paid 8.33% bonus as the mill is in loss”.
