Sugar mill workers go on tool-down strike to protest non-payment of salaries

Fazilka: Workers attached to Fazilka Central Cooperative Sugar Mill have launched a tool-down strike demanding payment of salaries and dues, reports Tribune India.

Het Ram, Sugar Mill Worker Union president and Jatinder Kumar, general secretary have alleged that the mill has not paid them salaries for over two years.

They said that the employees that have attained superannuation and the dependents of the deceased workers have not received their dues since January 2020. The workers stated that they have contacted the MLAs of Fazilka, Jalalabad and Balluana and have also approached the Chief Minister over the issue but no one has resolved their issue.

They have warned to launch “pakka morcha” on the main gate of the mill and would block the national highway if the authority fails to fulfil their demands.
