Patna: Sugar mills in the state have cleared around 98.78% of the total cane dues of the farmers for the 2022-23 crushing season, reports Live Hindustan.
Sugar mills have produced 62.74 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 662.96 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the season.
Sugarcane Industry development minister Alok Mehta inspected the work of the sugarcane department and instructed the officials to take steps to increase cane output.
He also instructed the officials to assist jaggery-producing farmers.
The minister also emphasized providing training to the sugarcane farmers to increase productivity.
