Sugar mills in Nagpur still operating

Nagpur: Many sugar mills in the state have closed down their crushing operations. But mills in Nagpur region are still operating. In this season, three sugar mills fro the district participated in the crushing season.

According to the Maharashtra Sugar Commissionerate report, till 12th March, 2020, sugar mills in the state crushed 3.93 lakh tonnes of sugarcane and produced 3.82 lakh quintals of sugar with a recovery rate of 9.73 per cent.

Till 12th March 2020 overall 50 sugar mills in the state have closed their operations. Which include 14 mills in Aurangabad, 9 mills in Ahmednagar, 5 mills in Pune, 8 mills in Solapur, 8 mills in Kolhapur, 4 mills in Nanded and 2 mills in Amravati district. Sugar mills in the state crushed 497.52 lakh tonnes of sugarcane and produced 55.43 lakh tonnes of sugar with a recovery rate of 11.14 per cent.
